Looking for Outstanding and Successful – and Unique – Blogs

Liz Strauss of Successful and Outstanding Bloggers is asking “How Many Truly Unique Blogs Can We Find?

I’m looking for truly unique and wonderful blogs. The blogs I am thinking of are one-of-a kind, stand-out, nothing-like-it, wow-will-you-look-at-that. only-one, wish-I-had-that-idea blogs. Every blog in the bunch will be outstanding in its own way.

She’s looking for 200 different outstanding blogs and bloggers. Her requirements?

* outstanding in content.
* outstanding in thought leadership.
* outstanding in concept and execution.
* outstanding in design and production.
* outstanding in style.
* outstanding for a blog in their category.

She’s also asking you to define what makes an outstanding blog outstanding, as well as asking for your recommendations. Do you know of a truly outstanding blog or blogger? One that needs some attention and deserves to be pointed out from among the crowd? Go help Liz find some truly unique blogs.

I can’t wait to see what the final results will be. I look forward to finding out what you think makes an outstanding and successful blog!

    I really enjoy How Advertising Spoiled Me. The author gets some fantastic advertisements from around the globe that are incredibly creative.

    One of my other favorites is the Dilbert Blog.

    Both incredibly unique in their own way.

    Regards,
    Doug

    Everyblog I go to is either a) mind numbingly boring/whiney b) only does the content and a fraction of them manage to mix it nicely with the occassional anecdotes!

    although I do rather like Jems blog http://jemjabella.co.uk

    That whole “what is outstanding” thing is the gorilla in the room on this one. By what meterstick, subscribers, daily readers…In my arena of fitness blogs, I don’t think you will find any that fit the usual standard. The best one I can come up with is Straighttothebar.com by Scott Bird. Primarily because we all come to him for a round up of news and he does a better job surveying the community than the rest of us.

    I just started blogging, and I don’t think it is exceptional, but it is honest and not pretending to be funny. I also don’t think it’s whiney, (as mentioned previously) So…perhaps I am a bit biased, but it’s worth a look.

    It’s on the offensive side, but http://violentacres.com is a guilty pleasure.

    I’ve got a great blog to recommend. It’s called Blue Tea. It’s beautiful photos and some commentary all on a theme. For example, it could be Abandoned Houses, Sculptured Food, Hotel rooms, etc. Check it out. http://bluewyverntea.blogspot.com/

    http://www.vegan.com

    Run by Eric Markus (full disclosure: personal friend of mine), author of “Meat Market” and one of the leading animal rights activists around today, the blog (mainly a podcast these days) has a laser-sharp focus on dismantling the “factory farming” industry of “animal agriculture.” It’s impact can actually be measured in real world terms (number of animals saved) rather than AdSense dollars.

    I like it because it is one of the few blogs I know that firmly places commercial interests a distinct second to getting a serious message out.

    I also admire (but don’t always like) http://www.stevepavlina.com... like him or hate him, the guy has carved out a unique niche peddling self-improvement on the Web. Has a bizarre style that swings from the incredibly mushy to machiavellian pragmatism, all in one day. We might resent him a bit since he pulls in a load of money from his site, but that doesn’t make the site un-unique.

    Rgds.

    Check out my complete insanity! I had never blogged before this, but I have tons of fun writing these, and people seem to enjoy reading what I have to say. It is mostly just random rambling, and I get a little out of my mind writing, but even I like to go back to read what I’ve written and laugh at myself. Hope you love it!

    The question was not about proposing your own blog but recommending other unique and special blogs. Still, you can submit your blog on the Successful and Outstanding Bloggers article.

    I write about life, experiences, life lessons, people I meet and the places I go. Like a journal and include photos. I treat it sort of like a scrapbook online. Check my blog out please?

      This was published many years ago and I wasn’t the one looking.

      Please do not ask in this fashion in the future unless the blogger is specifically asking. It is considered spammy and unprofessional. Enthusiasm is great, but begging is inappropriate and could result in having your comment marked as spam and other penalties. We like getting to know people and having a conversation with them as we get to know them online, just as we would in the real world.

      Thanks.

      Well I think the professional thing to do is to post a link to the blog you have up for people to talk about THEIR blogs. Because something like this is an open door for people to ask you to check out their blogs since there isn’t a section specifying to NOT self promote yourself, especially if people don’t know the other blog exists. So please do me the favor and delete my comment because your demeanor is completely rude and in order to have a conversation with someone you should first start off by contacting the other person with a better attitude. Not replying to a comment threatening people about marking their comments as spam. Here’s a tip, edit this post and include that you should NOT self promote yourself on the thread with a link to where you can promote yourself. It’ll save you the replies.

      -Thanks, but no thanks
