Lorelle Live at WordCamp 2007

By John Pozadzides

Many people who were unable to physically attend the recent WordCamp conference in San Francisco have been anxiously awaiting the videos from the event. Among the most requested videos is the one of Lorelle’s presentation.

Lorelle At WordCampSo, here is the one hour long lecture given by Lorelle two weeks ago on the topic of Kicking Ass Content Connections.

Lorelle gave this lecture from 1pm-2pm on July 21, 2007 at the Swedish American Hall. She went immediately after lunch, and it was a good thing because normally you get that “after lunch” energy lull – but not with Lorelle presenting! As you can see from the video she is a bundle of energy and was by far the biggest challenge for me to keep the camera on.

There is also a Windows Media version at Blip.TV or you can download a Quicktime version in two parts here and here. Furthermore, Lorelle has kindly made available a PowerPoint to go along with this video.

Please feel free to grab the code and embed any of the WordCamp videos in your own sites. We filmed these so that the millions of WordPress users who were NOT able to attend WordCamp would be able to hear the messages.

The rest of the speakers videos can be found here. And for those who are interested, I filmed all of these with a Canon XH A1 camcorder with an Audio Technica AT897 shotgun microphone. Editing was done in Sony Vegas.

This article was guest written by John Pozadzides, who is incidentally happy to be Lorelle’s friend. 🙂

Great tips in the videos but I disagree with your point about ‘unless you are a news blogger read feeds before you go to bed’. I guess this depends on the person, but with me there is no way I can sleep after absorbing so much information. I have to watch TV or something simple before sleeping or my mind buzzes for hours about what I just read.

The point was to get rid of the obsession and create your own content. Let it seep in. Don’t rush to be the FIRST because being the first often gets you lost among all the rest who want to be FIRST. The example was a metaphor.

You have to do what works for you, of course, but if you are a blogger that races to the finish line before you’ve even processed the content, what does that add to the blogging conversation?

And I got so caught up in answering that I forgot to say thank you and OH BOY to John for publishing these.

Thank you for all the hard work, John. You were a sweating and overworked fool the whole weekend. It’s a wonder you got to enjoy any of it you were working so hard to get the video coverage. Thank you!

    Lorelle,

Thanks for the kind words. It has been a little work, but I really enjoyed meeting everyone and hanging out. I wouldn’t change a thing!

Incidentally, I finally got the video loaded to Viddler and lo and behold they have specific embedding for WordPress.com! So, as you can see I’ve updated the post above with the video baked right in!

One of the cool things about Viddler is that you can go through and add comments to specific points within the video, so feel free to give it a try if there is something you want to clarify or notate.

    Take care,

    John
