This week’s blogging challenge is designed to push you out of your comfort zone. I want you to do some research on who is blogging about what subjects and blog about the most unusual blogger and blog topic you can find.
I call this the “blogging going to the birds post”, and if you think blogging about birds is unusual, think again. There are a lot of topics covered by bloggers and I want you to go out and find an unusual subject matter, hobby, or purpose and a blogger who blogs about it.
I’m looking for really weird. Really odd. Maybe a topic you would never think worth of blogging about or even writing about. Find this unusual blogger and blog about them and what they blog about.
Now, what’s weird and strange to you may not be weird and strange to someone else. Be nice to each other. This is a time for sharing and discovery!

I’ve been told IRL that my blog’s topic (railroad photography) is weird… but my traffic stats indicate even that if it’s weird, there are a lot of folks interested…
I very recently found a very unique blog that I just love. It’s called Cupcake Takes The Cake, and it’s a blog all about cupcakes. I love this site! I subscribed to the feed this week, and every time they post, I get hungry:

But I figured if this is a challenge to step outside our comfort zone, I should go and find blogs that I had never seen before. So I went to the Blogger’s Choice awards to peruse the nominations. My blog has received a nomination, and I have found some rather interesting sites from that contest in the past, so I figured that would be a good way to narrow down the field a bit.
So I found these:
Smoker’s Hack (http://smokershack.wordpress.com/) – A blog about the nostalgic time when smoking was not only accepted, it was “cool”.
Office Pranks (http://officepranks.blogspot.com/) – Describes and analyzes all the numerous pranks pulled on NBC’s “The Office.” Being a celebrity fansite blog myself, I love to see niche celebrity blogs.
Stitchy McYarnpants presents the Museum of Kitschy Stitches (http://www.stitchymcyarnpants.com/moks06/) – Kitchy and fun knitted projects. They’re not updated very frequently, but they have been around for years. These guys win at life by featuring a picture of a knitted Star Trek costume. HAHAHAHAH!
Ikea Hacker (http://ikeahacker.blogspot.com) – I like tinkering with Ikea stuff and I know many other people who do too. Whatever they may be – a funked up karlanda sofa, an ingenious idea for your pax wardrobe, a creative twist on your kitchen countertop, or even advice on how to finally stop flimsy forby stools from wobbling. I liked this blog so much I subscribed to their RSS Feed.
And, this has nothing to do with the challenge, but keep up the good work on your blog – I really enjoy your tips and suggestions!

You may think you are weird but this about what you think is weird.
When it all comes down to it, we all have weird blogs. Who knew that a strict diet of WordPress and blogging about blogging would be something I’d wake up every morning to and race to the computer to write? That’s very weird.
But look around and tell me what others are blogging about that you think is weird to you.

I’m glad you’re stealing away from your vacation because I always do. Anyway, interesting question. I’d say Future Cave Paintings is probably the most unique on my blogroll. I guess you could call it strange. Rest up. Be safe.
Of course I had to respond to this challenge, Lorelle. Many reactions to the premise of “blogging going to the birds” come to mind, but I’m going with flattered. I get your point about all blogs being weird and hope others do as well.
