Trackbacks and Pings Out of Order? Ping-o-matic now back online

According to news on the new Pingomatic blog now on , Ping-o-matic is now up and running after a few days of trouble. So if your trackbacks and pings were out of order or not functioning with WordPress.com or your full WordPress blog, this is why:

Sorry for the downtime, it was actually NOT related to the plans for a new architecture, the problem was the pings were overloading the network stack (really) on the old box, so we moved it to a better box and put some protections in front of it.

There will be more updates over the weekend, I’ll be blogging the news as it happens. The hardware from Technorati will finally be brought online and I have a few other optimizations in mind.

Matt Mullenweg is working overtime on a variety of fronts to keep up with the growing demand of WordPress users, along with WordPress.com, , and many other projects. As these services grow and expand, the high bandwidth and usage on hardware takes its toll. The price for popularity is more money on hardware. 😉

There will be more glitches as changes, updates, and improvements come online, so hold onto your socks and enjoy the ride. And aren’t you glad you don’t have to do the work yourself.

Thanks Lorelle for the great posts, I’d like to know how do you do the quote block with another color, I’ve tried to do it but i’m unable to.

You have no control over the blockquote background color, or any other colors, fonts, layout, or design elements, in WordPress.com outside of those few options permitted by Themes with Theme Options. Sorry.

If you want to customize your colors, fonts, layout, or design elements, go for the full version of WordPress. Then you can do whatever you want and let your imagination go wild, or just tweak a few things.
