James Farmer of Incorporated Subversion and Edublogs and Andrew Billits recently announced WPMUDEV Premium, a customized and fully capable version of WordPressMU, the powerful blogging platform that has morphed into that which runs Edublogs, similar to WordPress.com.
Today, they are annoucing a new consultancy project, Incsub for custom WordPress MultiUser blog communities and networks.
WordPressMU is the powerful backend administrative program that allows a group, organization, business, club, or anyone to set up multiple blogs for bloggers who have some control over their blog’s look and action, while being a part of a “community”. It is not for the average user, nor for those who want to manage multiple blogs. It’s designed for thousands of bloggers blogging under one “umbrella”.
WordPressMU DEV Premium was the start of a consultancy and custom WordPressMU Plugin program that gave James and Andrew a chance to share their expertise with those interested in running WordPressMU and taking advantage of their expertise and custom Plugins from running Edublogs and the other related WordPressMU communities they’ve developed.
Incsub takes this up a few notches and offers the consultancy and expertise, along with the support, from step one of using WordPressMU all they way through customization.
According to James’ announcement:
Now you don’t even have to worry about implementing our custom plugins and functionality, ‘cos you can get us to do it for you, warts and all.
Yep, that’s right, we’ll design, build, customise, support and even host your blog community or network… and we’ll do it damn well too thankyouverymuch.
He also believes that this makes them the first WordPressMU consultants. Appropriate since they were the first to use WordPressMU two years ago.
With more than 50,000 users on Edublogs and thousands more on their other related community blogs such as learnerblogs for school students, uniblogs.org for university and college students, and eslblogs for those involved in teaching English as a second language and English as a foreign language, James and Andrew have become the experts in multiple blog systems.

Pretty cool. Hopefully now that they’re focusing on services they’ll look at open sourcing their plugins, which will grow the community (and their business) much faster.
