P2: The New Prologue is out for WordPress.com bloggers to play with. Based upon the Prologue WordPress Theme that has been called Twitter-Meets-Blog, this is a form of social networking microblogging WordPress Theme.
The announcement offers more information and a video, but this is not a WordPress Theme for everyone. It is designed for multiple contributor blogs or groups, allowing people to communicate Twitter-style with each other. The WordPress Development Updates blog uses Prologue. WordPress developers tweet their patches, collaborate, share what they are working on, and boost each other through the process, though recently it has also been used as a general blog, breaking the one-line-per-post rule, which shows the flexibility of the Theme.
The features include:
- Live notifications.
- Easy participation by multiple contributors.
- Posting from the front page of the blog – without using the WordPress Administration Panels.
- Comments on the front page of the site with in-line editing (no page refresh) with AJAX.
- Threaded comment display on the front page, as well as on single post pageviews.
- Live tag suggestion.
- Show/hide feature for threaded comments.
- Keyboard shortcuts for faster posting and navigation.
- Feeds for the blog, comments, authors, tags, searches, and more.
Some may want to activate the P2 WordPress Theme on their current blog, which is a fairly dramatic change. It’s currently a plain white page with the focus on the content. User’s comments are highlighted in the sidebar with their Gravatars next to their name and the post title they commented on.
This is a great Theme to use in addition to your main blog, especially if you are working with a group of people and you want to set up a group only discussion and collaboration system.
Or if you are into microblogging, this could be your new WordPress Theme.

And for those who can’t wait to get their hands on the new theme, they can grap it from here: http://svn.automattic.com/wpcom-themes/p2

Wow looks GREAT – can’t wait to download it and look under the hood!
I have a second private blog running Prologue and love it. Glad to see its getting an update.
great, i want download it although i still use blogspot blog 😀 but i want to try wordpress 🙂 thanks friend
I’m confused. You downloaded something from WordPress.com? I’m not sure if the Theme is available to the public yet. And it definitely won’t work on a Blogspot blog.
Has WordPress.org made P2 available yet? Its like the Christmas morning … okay a bit much, but we are looking forward to it!
great!

I love the possibilities of this new theme…My only question, is there a way to add the TinyMCE editor functions from the administration/composition control panels to the front page for posts/comments as well? That would be wonderful.
Can’t wait till it will be available for wordpress.org.
Hello. The theme is amazing. I have been roaming wordpress.com support and forum trying to find out if there is a limit to the number of contributors in P2 on wordpress.com. Do you know or alternately who I should ask to get an answer? Thanks so much.
Free WordPress.com blogs are restricted to 30 or 32 bloggers/members/logins. Their main page will give you the specific number. You can pay a small fee to have more.
Thanks for this. I’ve created my first miro-blogging site and am looking forward to learning more about these kind’s of sites.
