Blog Challenge: Blog Your Passion

Sometimes I find a post that “sings”, that makes my heart glow with gladness because someone got it.

It’s fun to help people discover where their passion lies. I guess it appeals to the a teacher in me. Just let me start with a question. Then I get to do go looking for relationships while I’m listening to another person talking — two of my favorite things.

I keep asking questions and in the words I hear folks describe the people and ideas that they would love to spend their waking hours with.

By the time I start mentioning what I’m observing, I’ve already got a big smile on my face. It’s so fun to say, “hey, did you hear that? It was beautiful what you just said. Did you notice how many times you’ve talked about . . .? You seem to be really into . . .?” And to hear back, “Oh yeah, I guess I am.”

That’s when it gets just like two kids playing.

And they call this my work.

I have a passion for electronic music. It is one that, without living in a big city, I can only share with others online, which I do at Caramel Cortex.

    Hi Lorelle,

Thanks so much for this blog I’ve just discovered.

For the last 25 years my passion has been to write pop songs and play in a pop rock band. I just blogged about it here.

My passion – absolute – unequivocally – everyone that knows me knows me for it – IS MANGOES!! They are so unabashedly seductive – I don’t understand why other people aren’t as obsessed with them.

How am I living & working it into my life? Well, one of my blogs is called Mango Tongue – it’s not specifically about mangoes but I knew the blog had to be called Mango something.

I eat mangoes when I can. The mangoes that have been imported into London this year are quite disappointing.

I love Dried Organic Mango Slices!

I have a solo show in which I mention mangoes a few times – for e.g, I crown Eve the Goddess of Mangoes for a day.

You know how you get professional wine tasters & tea tasters? I’d love to be a pro mango taster! Abso-mango-lutely!

Oh and I had 7 badges printed with the word ‘Mango Activist’ on it! But I’ve given them all away. Must get more printed up.

Plus I created an online mango shrine on my main website.

    Ok. I could go on. So I won’t. 🙂

This is exactly the challenge I’m struggling with now: What is my passion?

I love writing. I love sharing what little I know with others. My current blog has affirmed that I can communicate effectively; however, I want to start another blog that is relevant to more than a niche, and I want to market myself in some way.

But what is my passion? Once I get that figured out, then I believe the sky’s the limit.

  1. […] Lorelle challenges us this week to “blog your passion.” Of course, writing is my passion. And blogging lends immediacy to writing – one reason I’m so passionate about blogging. So I doubt I ever really could take a break from it, although I am trying to focus on writing my next novel. I have several wips started and I’m struggling to choose just one to focus on – maybe because I’m putting so much of my passion into blogging. […]
