The Weekly Digest from Lorelle on WordPress this week features news about me traveling to Chicago for the SOBCon07, the Successful and Outstanding Blogger Conference May 11-12, 2007, with some of the hottest folks in blog building and interactivity on the planet presenting programs. I’ve also got news on some other hot topics about WordPress and blogging, as well as more “stuff” I’ve been up to lately.
Exciting Lorelle on WordPress News
Successful and Outstanding Blogger Conference in Chicago Next Week: As mentioned, I’m going to be in Chicago next week for the SOBCon07, the Successful and Outstanding Blogger Conference, which I featured in Lorelle in Chicago Next Week and in my initial announcement of the conference. I also reviewed it in the Blog Herald with The Relationship Conference: Building Blogs Through Interaction article series. There are a few spaces left so register and pay now if you want to be a part of this exciting conference focusing on blog communication, relationships, and interactivity.
How To Deal With Content Theft Featured On LifeHacker: Lifehacker’s How to deal with content thieves featured What Do You Do When Someone Steals Your Content this week, sending traffic through the roof. Thanks, Lifehacker, for the great recommendation. And thanks to WordPress.com for being able to take the heat of the traffic spike.
Lorelle Is In Print, Too: Yes, Lorelle can be seen in print. 😉 The latest edition of CHANGE Magazine is out in Houston, Texas and surrounding areas. It includes the article “The Miracle of Touch” or “The Power of Touch” (it’s the first on the cover and the other on the inside), based upon an article I wrote several years ago, The Symptoms of Touch.
The article deals with the issue of touch in our lives and our sensitivity to touch through interaction with strangers, co-workers, friends, and family, and how we respond and create “stories” around the issue of touch. The magazine helps those in recovery and changing their life move forward with a positive attitude and the tools to help them make a success of those changes. Keep an eye out for a copy if you live in the area.
Oh, as an additional funny, while the byline got my name right, their spell check got it wrong in the bio. Instead of Lorelle VanFossen, I’m listed as Lorelle Vamoose, which is the word that spell check first finds when it can’t identify “VanFossen”. Oops! Gotta go! 😀
Finding Content For Your Blog: Web Business Blog’s article on finding content for your blog featured my popular post, Blogging Tips – Hundreds of Resources for Finding Content for Your Blog, as a great source to start your hunt for story ideas. This reminded me that I need to finish writing my series on how to find and develop content for your blog. Stay tuned.
WordCamp 2007 will be July 21-22 in San Francisco: There is an “unofficial WordCamp 2007 Upcoming Events page but the new official site is at http://2007.wordcamp.org/ and Matt says it will be at the same place as last year, the Swedish American Hall on Market Street, and that there may be a small fee for attendees, probably to help cover costs of the hall and event. This is the second annual meeting and WordPress users will be attending from all over the world, possibly even me. The turnout is expected to be at least double, if not triple, from last year’s event, so make sure you make arrangements as soon as possible.
WordPress Meetups: I list the WordPress events I find in my WordPress Wednesday on the Blog Herald, and recently started a WordPress Events Page to help publicize WordPress Meetups and groups. If you are a member, make sure you get me your information and schedule so I can help promote your events.
