Have you noticed strange links in your WordPress.com Referrers list?
They tend to look like this:
http://example.com/wp-admin/index.php
If you do, that means that your blog has been accessed from the WordPress Administration Panels or Dashboard. In other words, a WordPress or WordPress.com user clicked on a link to your blog from inside their WordPress.
This is also a clue that your blog may have been recently showcased in the WordPress.com Top Blog or Post featured in the Dashboard of all WordPress.com bloggers.
These visitors also arrive from the WordPress.com statistics such as from the incoming referrals list of links or outgoing “clicks”, links visitors on your blog click during their visit. Full version blogs using feeds in their Administration Panel Dashboard might also click through from there to visit your blog.
There is nothing wrong and these people are not trying to break into your blog. They are just accessing your blog through their WordPress interface, the Administration Panels. Consider them a kindred WordPress spirit, visiting your blog from their blog.

Hi Lorelle,
This comment of mine might have created a referrer as mentioned in the post as I have reached here from the dashboard. I too get such referrers not because I am featured / showcased, it’s the “Blog Surfer Feature” on wordpress.com that allows you to add blogs from wordpress.com domain and view latest post from each of them without visiting the site.
I am not aware if the blog count increases or not… but it’s a cool feature
You also find them from people checking your blog from their admin panels whilst moderating any comments you’ve made – though that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re writing comments suspiciously like a bot!
Today ,I found wordpress.com as a referrer in my blog.My blog has been visited twice today.May I know the significance?
Oh,,,,thanks for clearing that out.
You post is helpful. Peace out.
