i think that the most valuable thing as far as safety on the internet can be attributed to common sense

It is a good point though but yes common sense is best policy.
I recommend setting up a separate email account to handle all your social networking affairs. this way, you won’t put yourself at risk. and yes, some common sense can go a long way. 🙂
