WordPress and Blogging Events: February and March 2007

WordPress EventsThe following are upcoming events related to WordPress and Blogging, as well as some interesting web technologies conferences and events.

February 2-4 – Portland, Oregon
RecentChangesCamp 2007 (see also RecentChangesCamp – Upcoming Events”) is in Portland, and will feature an informal, go as you please, schedule of sessions on technology, web design, blogging, wikis, collaboration, social networking, and who knows.

February 3-4 – Alpen Adria Universität Klagenfurt
BarCamp Kärnten will cover Internet technology, Web 2.0, and social software.

February 4 – Vienna
BarCamp Carinthia will be held in Vienna but all participants will be speaking in English. Programs include a variety of web technologies.

February 7 – Sydney, Australia
The Sydney Weblogger Ad-Tech Meetup will be at the Arthouse Hotel at 7PM and ProBlogger Darren Rowse says he’s going to be there, so expect a lot of fun discussing blogging tips and WordPress.

February 7 – Boston, Massachusetts
Brave New Web is “designed to bridge the gap between current practitioners and the business and and financial communities that are crucial for innovation and new business creation”. $

February 9-10 – Atlanta, Georgia
SoCon07 in Atlanta features programs for bloggers, new media pros, academics, and people from across the spectrum of Web 2.0, marketing, public relations, legal, human resources and the executive ranks.

February 10 – Stanford University, Stanford, California
Community Next conference covers online social networks and bookmarking services and industry. $$

February 17 – Philadelphia
The next Philadelphia WordPress Meetup will be informal, happening just before the Weblogger Meetup. There will be information and discussion on WordPress 2.1 and probably more fun and games from the popular WordPress guru, Owen Winkler.

February 17 – New York
The New York City WordPress Meetup will bring together fans of WordPress from around New York to discuss WordPress 2.1, easy drop-in plugins, and some other fun WordPress stuff.

February 17-18 – London
BarCamp London is scheduled but I haven’t found details yet.

February 17-18 – Mexico
BarCamp Mexico features a wide range of web technology discussions and sessions.

February 20 – London
The Future of Web Apps will be at Kensington Town Hall and focuses on development web technology from creating your own web application to a full-time developer. See Future of Web Apps for more info on the three day even with Kevin Rose of Digg, Mike Arrington of TechCrunch, and more including reps from Yahoo!, Google, Amazon, and other top web applications. $$$

February 21 – Miami, Florida
Barcamp Miami will be at the University of Miami School of Communication and their BarCampMiami Blog has more information.

February 24 – San Francisco
WordPress Meetup at the Chaat Cafe with WordPress 2.1 as the hot topic and more.

Upcoming WordPress Events – March 2007

March 3-4 – Madison, Wisconsin
BarCampMadison is for anyone interested in technology and creativity in an informal atmosphere. Currently, program sessions include Perl, community education, drupal, web accessibility, social networking, entrepreneurship, java web services, and other tech programs.

March 3-4 Australia
BarCampCanberra and BarCampAustralia will host a free “unconference” for web, design and development communities, focused on sharing and learning, as well as generating new ideas.

March 4 – Denmark
WordPress DK Meetup members will meet and discuss all things WordPress 2.1, hot new plugins and design tips, and more.

March 16 – San Francisco
WordPress Meetup in San Francisco will be at the Chaat Cafe and everyone will be talking about WordPress 2.1.

March 19-21 – New York
AJAX World Conference will cover everything and anything about the hottest scripting technology on the web. $$$

March 24 – Zurich, Switzerland
BlogCampSwitzerland is the European conference exclusively for bloggers. The all day event is free.

March 26 – San Diego, California
O’Reilly Emerging Technology Conference explores the hot ideas, projects, and new technologies that are in “alpha” development including file sharing, blogs, AJAX, online entertainment and games, mobile messaging, and more. $$$

Sneak Peek on Future WordPress, Blogging, and Web Technologies Events

BarCampUSA In Jefferson, Wisconsin, is in the works and scheduled for August 23-26, 2007, four days of programs on technology, software, blogging, social networking, Web 2.0, and whatever else pops up.

    Bummer, Arizona is always considerably lacking in anything that could hint at modern culture or community. Fortunately San Diego is a quick 4 and a half hour jaunt in the car from here.

    Don’t forget SxSWi in March. I’m sure there will be lots of talk about WP there – there always is!
