WordPress and Blogging Events: January 2007

WordPress EventsThe following are upcoming events related to WordPress and Blogging, as well as some interesting web technologies conferences and events.

Upcoming Events – January 2007

January 17 – Greensboro, North Carolina
Blogsboro– The Piedmont Triad Bloggers January Meetup is for all sorts of “bloggers, poets, writers, photographers, artists, and journalists from Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem, Asheboro, and the many other cities of Piedmont North Carolina”.

January 20 – Ireland
WordPressMU Guru, Donncha O’Caoimh will present a program at BarCamp South East in Ireland.

January 20 – Stockholm
BarCampStockholm will cover Internet technologies and related subjects such as thread modeling, trends in social networks, and learning automation testing.

January 20-21 – Dallas, Texas
BarCampDallas offers BarCampers a chance to sleep in a Microsoft office and some interesting hosts from Microsoft, Ximda, Creativerse, Sabre, and more. Possible topics may include accessible and CSS designed dynamically driven websites and blogs, GTD, Web 2.0, Python, business techniques, and other digital and Internet subjects.

January 20 – Rome, Italy
RomeCamp includes programs on Web 2.0, Ruby on Rails, ebooks, digital business ecosystems, the digital web, Net TV, podcasting, blogging, and more. It looks like a huge schedule of interesting events.

January 20 – Philadelphia, PA
The Philadelphia WordPress Meetup Group gets together just before the Philadelphia Weblogger Group meets, so you get two for the price of one. Okay, it’s free.

January 20 – New York City
The New York City WordPress January Meetup will be covering WordPress 2.1, drop-in WordPress Plugins, and some fun stuff about WordPress.

January 21-23 – Munich, Germany
Digital, Life, Design (DLD) conference on digital innovation, gaming, arts, Internet, and science. $$$

January 25 – Portland, Oregon
BarCamp Portland Tech Meetup for anyone working in high tech, including blogs and open source. Hmm, I might be there…?

January 25 – Dallas, Texas
Search Engine Watch LIVE! is an informal, half-day event and chance to meet the members of the Search Engine Watch team. Topics will include the latest news in search engines and the search industry. $-$$$

January 26 – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
National Federation for Information and Abstracting Services (NFAIS) – Intellectual Property Protection in the Digital Environment: An Update is a fundraiser for the NFAIS, too.

January 27 – Houston, Texas
The Houston WordPress January Meetup will meet.

January 31 – Toronto, Canada
Social Media Breakfast Seminar on Sex and the Sizzle in Toronto from 8-10:30AM aimed at bloggers, especially WordPress bloggers.

February 2-4 – Portland, Oregon
RecentChangesCamp 2007 (see also RecentChangesCamp – Upcoming Events”) is in Portland, and will feature an informal, go as you please, schedule of sessions on technology, web design, blogging, wikis, collaboration, social networking, and who knows. And who knows, now that I live next door, I might stop in. Who knows? 😉

February 4 – Vienna
BarCamp Carinthia will be held in Vienna but all participants will be speaking in English. Programs include a variety of web technologies.

February 3-4 – Alpen Adria Universität Klagenfurt
BarCamp Kärnten will cover Internet technology, Web 2.0, and social software.

February 7 – Boston, Massachussetts
Brave New Web is “designed to bridge the ga between current practitioniers and the business and and financial communities that are crucial for innovation and new business creation”. $

February 9-10 – Altanta, Georgia
SoCon07 in Altanta features programs for bloggers, new media pros, academics, and people from across the spectrum of Web 2.0, marketing, public relations, legal, human resources and the executive ranks.

February 10 – Stanford University, Stanford, California
Community Next conference covers online social networks and bookmarking services and industry. $$

February 17-18 – London
BarCamp London is scheduled but I haven’t found details yet.

February 17-18 – Mexico
BarCamp Mexico features a wide range of web technology discussions and sessions.

February 20 – London
The Future of Web Apps will be at Kensington Town Hall and focuses on development web technology from creating your own web application to a full-time developer. See Future of Web Apps for more info on the three day even with Kevin Rose of Digg, Mike Arrington of TechCrunch, and more including reps from Yahoo!, Google, Amazon, and other top web applications. $$$

March 3-4 – Madison, Wisconsin
BarCampMadison is for anyone interested in technology and creativity in an informal atmosphere. Currently, program sessions include Perl, community education, drupal, web accessibility, social networking, entrepreneurship, java web services, and other tech programs.

March 3-4 Australia
BarCampCanberra and BarCampAustralia will host a free “unconference” for web, design and development communities, focused on sharing and learning, as well as generating new ideas.

March 19-21 – New York
AJAX World Conference will cover everything and anything about the hottest scripting technology on the web. $$$

March 26 – San Diego, California
O’Reilly Emergency Technology Conference explores the hot ideas, projects, and new technologies that are in “alpha” development including file sharing, blogs, AJAX, online entertainment and games, mobile messaging, and more. $$$

April 15-18 – San Francisco
Web 2.0 Expo is a conference and trade show for online technology, focusing on social networking and Internet development. $$$

May 1-4 – Amsterdam
ApacheCon Europe 2007 brings together experts in Apache and related scripting languages, projects, and programs such as Apache HTTP Server, PERL, XML, Java, Python, PHP, and Ruby. $$

May 3 – Portland, Oregon
WebVisions 2007 at the Oregon Convention Center featuring “the rock stars of design, user experience and business strategy” on the web. $$

May 8-12 – Banff, Alberta, Canada
16th Annual International World Wide Web Conference brings together web professionals and developers from around the world, including representatives of the web standards groups and associations. $$$

August 23-26 – Jefferson, Wisconsin
BarCampUSA is in the works offers four days of free (or very cheap) programs on technology, software, blogging, social networking, Web 2.0, and whatever else pops up.
