It appears that I will be in Seattle a little longer, and with a little more free time, than originally planned. I thought I’d take advantage of the opportunity to get to meet some WordPress bloggers (and other bloggers) in the Seattle area.
I do a lot of teaching and public speaking, and one of the great joys for me is hearing from other bloggers and writers (or potential writers and bloggers) about what they write, how they write, and why. I learn more from them then I’m sure they learn from me. At least I like to think so. So I would love to come to a meeting.
Also, it’s a chance for WordPress enthusiasts to ask questions about how WordPress works and to get some of the juicy stories behind the scenes of how WordPress does work. Hee hee.
So if you are involved in a WordPress or blogging group in the Seattle area and having a meeting before May 25, please let me know immediately so I may attend and get to know you all. I’d love to see what you are doing and learn about how the group got started and keeps going. And yes, I’ll probably write about you all here. 😉
After I leave Seattle, I will be in Mobile, Alabama, and traveling throughout the Gulf States from Louisiana to Florida on and off through the summer, so let me know if you are involved in a group in that area so I can attend a meeting or two. In September, I will be in the Northeast United States, so that is another opportunity for me to take advantage of any groups in the area.
Also, the WordPress Codex volunteer team has been working on a “WordPress User Groups, Clubs, and Associations” page for a while, so if you are involved in a WordPress-oriented group, please let me know, wherever you are, so we can add you to our list and help let everyone know about who you are, where you are, when you meet, and what you meet about.

Great blog! Thanks for all the pointers on WordPress; I’m at the beginning of the WP learning curve myself… How did you add this beautiful pen signature at the bottom of your posts?
I discuss adding graphics and tags to WordPress.com blogs (and WordPress blogs) in A Tagging Bookmarklet for WordPress and WordPress.com users, and the signature is just a graphic using a handwritten font. It is NOT by actual signature. That’s unreadable. 😉
Since I haven’t settled on a final WordPress Theme for this site, I like the consistent personal touch the signature graphic adds. Thank you for noticing.
I’d love to know more about “WordPress User Groups, Clubs, and Associations,” but I can’t find any hint of such a page in the wordpress codex. Can you give me some clues?

I just found out that the Seattle Weblog Meetup group will be meeting Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at 7PM at Ralph’s Grocery and Deli, 2035 4th Ave, in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood, diagonally across from the Cinerama. I found the information on the Meetup site at http://www.meetup.com/ and there is a link for WordPress meetup groups at http://wordpress.meetup.com/ though you have to enter your zip code, which means I now have to start hitting up zip codes for the areas that I’m traveling through.
So unless I hear otherwise, expect to meet me at the Seattle Weblog Meetup on May 17. That should be fun.
Should I warn them that I’m coming? Hmmm. 😉
