Future Posts STILL Not Posting

Again, my apologizes. I’m still on the road, somewhere in Oregon now, living from WIFI to WIFI connection, and running into days without even a cell phone connection let alone a wireless Internet connection. And developers are “still working on the problem” so all the work I put into future posts keeping you informed and educated while I bang and bash my body across rough back roads of the United States comes to naught when the future posts won’t release on schedule.

For others who are suffering with this, please let the developers know through the FEEDBACK link on your Administration Panels. For those who aren’t having problems with future posts, then consider letting them know that your posts are posting beautifully. I don’t know what the solution is as I’ve only a few minutes on this begged and borrowed computer connection, so help me help them play detective. Hopefully we’ll have a solution soon.

As for my adoring fans, adoring because I adore you all, my thanks for hanging in there and being patient. I’ve got a few more weeks of traveling to do before I can sit before my computer in the comfort of my little office and stable-ish Internet connection. Until the next trip. I hope this will be solved before then.

In the interim, there are over 500 articles on all variety of things, WordPress, WordPress Themes, web page design and development, and blogging tips, tricks, and awesome bloggers to explore. Why not cruise through the categories to see if you can find some old goodies in the “archives”. 😉

Who ever said life on the road was fun, romantic, easy, or simple…needs to be tarred, feathered, beaten with a suitcase (hard Samsonite, preferably), and hung from the nearest airplane wing in the hot sun while honking motor homes drive in circles around the pit of fire lit under his upside-down head. *Sigh*

Thanks for the update! Actually, there are quite a few posts in the archives I’ve been meaning to read, and this break from new material allows me the time to do that.

I just need to say that your site is tremendous. I am new to WP and am thankful for generous people like you who help make life easier. Thank you very much!

    Dear, oh dear!

I still envy you banging and bashing. Well, maybe I shouldn’t. I don’t know how rough it is, but I always wanted to do that.

How you get time to write at all is beats me.
So when the future is fixed at WP dot com, my feed reader will crash and my eyes will bleed 😉

    Happy bumping!

I’m feeling your pain with the future dated posting problem. I like to write my posts in advance so that I can meter them out to balance out my blogging time and my family time. Almost 100% of the time the timestamp time will come and go without the post appearing. It shows on my manage view, but I have to edit it and publish it abgain after the time has passed in order to make it appear. Also, the “edit timestamp” checkbox is not at all clear. In order to make a timestamp change, that box has to be checked. Also, the publish button has to be used, not the save and edit again button.

Isn’t working on my webcomic either. Strange that this feature works fine with WP 2.0.02 though. Just not MU. *shrug* Feedback sent.

Thanks, drmike, for helping to look into this. This has been very stressful while traveling. Thank you so much, for all you do for us.

It’s working for me now over at the webcomic

    Is it working for you?

They continue to not work as of yesterday, but I’ve another future post coming out in an hour or two. We’ll see if that works. I just wrote it, so it was written and saved in the past hour. Maybe that will make a difference.

This has been a nightmare while I’ve been traveling. Thanks for looking into this and helping out.

Okay, the test I just did is NOT WORKING. Damn, poop and all that. I set it to post one hour from saving and it didn’t release. I had to go into EDIT and then SAVE and it posted. I checked UTC time, blog time, and my time and it should have posted two hours ago. I have more coming out in the next couple of days that I’m writing now, so let’s see what happens with that, but future posts are still not working.

Smack ’em for me, drmike. 😉

If you can read through my shaking typing, I’m laughing hysterically, we have some improvement in the failure for future posts to post. ONE post I wrote very late last night (about midnight my time – 7am GMT I think) released in the night (set at 3AM), but the one set at 5AM didn’t release. Maybe the GMT thing is screwed up and it released because the GMT time had already passed. I don’t know, but that doesn’t explain why 4 days later a past due post won’t publish. Go figure.

Anyway, it still isn’t working, but for a moment, I had some hope.

    drmike and ALL,

I was out of Internet range AGAIN for the past two days and I return back to the living web to find two future posts posted. I’ll be watching this carefully, but hopefully this is now fixed. WEEEEEE!

  12. Posted May 22, 2006 at 8:28 am | Permalink

False alarm. Don’t know why two future posts posted, but none have posted since. DAMN!!!!

    Come on, folks. Fix this!

I’ve written a probably a half dozen feedbacks since moving to WordPress less than a week ago, and it’s still not working right. I think they’re sick of seeing my feedbacks, because I’m not getting responses any more. I think it’s more than one problem that they need to fix.

On a daily basis, my posts pop onto the front page at 8 pm when they’re supposed to begin at midnight. That’s one issue.

Second issue, some posts are appearing anywhere from three to five days early. That’s a second issue.

Third issue, in order to get the several-days-too-early posts off the front page, I’ve resaved them as drafts, planning to republish myself on the desired day. Three times one resaved draft has popped back onto the front page, and three times I have re-resaved it as a DRAFT.

I’ve looked into the topic all over the support forum (I’m using WordPress-hosted free blogs) and verified that my time is set properly in Options (UTC -4 for Washington DC).

In the meantime, four months has elapsed since this topic was first opened, and no progress seems to have been made.

There have also been new features added. Wouldn’t it be better if the features WordPress already has work the way they’re supposed to?

  14. Posted August 5, 2006 at 7:28 am | Permalink

We all know about this very well, as you can read here, and trust me, they are working on it. It seems the issue is more complex than they thought, but I expect this to be fixed soon.

I wish they’d put it in writing when you sign up, but it is well known and talked about that is the alpha and beta test site for all things WordPress and WordPressMU. Users need to understand that. This is cutting edge technology, and as such, things go bump in the night and the month(s).

I totally and completely agree with you. Development of WordPress and is a huge team effort and different team members work on different issues. The part of the team working on new features has been working overtime to bring benefits to users, and the core programming part of the team has been digging into the dirt, trying to work on the bug problems. The future post problem continues, but a lot of the other major bugs have been cleared up.

Hang in there. Just remember, you’re riding the edge with 😉

I’ve had several more communications with WP Support since my last comment, and they seem to have this bug pretty well squashed at this point. Part of it had to do with a scheduling queue which was not properly updating.

Thank you for pointing out that is a test site and on the cutting edge of new tech. Knowing that will certainly help me keep good humored about the occasional hiccups.

I’m so glad I moved my blogs to WordPress!

And thank you, Lorelle, for your very excellent Lorelle on WordPress blog.
