    An invite can be yours if you sign up at, just like anyone else can.

    WordPress and is free. This was in 2005 when was new and this was a silly publicity getter done by one of the volunteers to raise interest in blogs which were then by invitation only. For more on this see Don’t Buy WordPress – It’s Free.
