I agree with your proposal to DO something, to take a stand. These are good choices, but I'd put more money into mental health advocates instead of guns. The gun industry is protected by millions - of dollars as well as people - billions of dollars. Let your voice be heard about more than that guns. Invest and donate in mental health services so people can get the help they need and understand that guns are not a choice for communication.

Thanks.

Heal and go on -- we all must -- but also commit to making 2013 the year EACH OF US does some one thing about changing the gun culture in America. I think I'm going to join the Brady group that began back when President Reagan was shot, and Brady ended up with a lifetime seriously handicapped. I just heard last evening that THAT's the group the parents of Newtown whose children were SPARED have chosen to join and become active in.

Perhaps because it was one of the first and way back then people actually thought -- surely, the attempted assassination of a president will galvanize the country? No it didn't -- not lastingly in any event, nor any of those that followed.

Newtown is DIFFERENT -- I feel it! choose your own gun organization, there are many. But let's each do SOMETHING, if only to contribute to one of the many fighting the good fight. Don't let THIS slaughter fade off in a gutless Congress.

Check if any of your mutual funds invest in Cerberus and if so, call/email them to sell it.

Cerberus is a collection of gun manufacturing stocks (heard about it last evening on TV) that includes the manufacturer of the gun used to slaughter these children -- one had 11 shots in her 6-year old body. And want to hear an amazing irony?

The elderly father of the owner of that gun company (forget his name now) LIVES in Newtown.

The more I hear reactions from so many NRA members, the more I finally understand. That organization is about protecting gun MANUFACTURERS from Congress doing anything -- its members for the most part think about these repeating guns just like the rest of us do. They don't BELONG in a civilian world, they are only meant for killing rapidly, killing policemen. Not for hunting or self-defense.
