In this case, Lorelle and I have been working together for quite a while. The series started with Lorelle suggesting after WordCamp Dallas that I do an single article about fan blogging, as it is a very specific blogging niche. I started by writing out an outline of points I'd like to make in the article. The points evolved into full articles, and we went through a couple of pretty major rewrites before we got to the point where we felt confident that the series was complete. We've been working together I think about a month or two, editing and changing direction on things, to get to the point where this series was ready to publish.

So, for the most part with the exception of some minor edits, the whole series was written and graphics suggested before the posting even started.

You should be asking the guest blogger, DB Ferguson, this question. Hopefully, she will answer.

For me, it depends upon the series. Some are totally written before I begin, and some evolve over time and reactions. See <a href="http://lorelle.wordpress.com/2006/06/21/technical-tips-for-publishing-a-series-of-articles-on-your-blog/" title="Technical Tips for Publishing a Series of Articles on Your Blog" rel="nofollow">Technical Tips for Publishing a Series of Articles on Your Blog</a> for my specifics.

Lorelle, I'm just curious in asking this. You have an excellent blog (as you obviously know). ;)

In starting a series of posts like this "Fan Based Blog Series", do you

(1) already have all your posts written and ready to go
(2) have just an outline of the topics to cover (research not done yet), or
(3) just blog as you go along (which I think not)?
