What Did You Learn Last Year? Do You Look Back?

Again, I am honored by my dear friend, Edrei Zahari of Footsteps in the Mirror, who continues to take on my blog challenge asking what you have learned this year. He wrote about what he learned in 2006 and continues the tradition with What Have You Learnt In 2007?.

I think it’s a brilliant idea to always look back from time to time and see how far you’ve gone. After all, despite that it’s just 365 days around the sun, there has got to be at least more than a handful of things you now know that you didn’t before. Unless you’re that ignorant about the world around you, but I’d like to believe not.

His exploration through the things he’s learned this year makes my year’s accomplishments look insignificant. Still, he’s young and has “more to learn” than us older folks. 😀

Do you look back over the past year and report the results on your blog? Is it important to you to give a year in review for yourself or for your readers? Why?

I think it’s important to stop in our tracks once and a while and ask where we are, looking back along the path at where we’ve been. I don’t do it by the calendar, though. I do it when I need to, which is often as it keeps me on track – the right track.

I was particularly touched by his summary, which I share with you because it says so much that I wish I had the grace and style to say as he does.

While setting goals for yourself does bring with it a pace that some people need, I know where I’m going and I don’t always need those constant reminders. What I’ve always needed is appreciating those small things you pick up as time goes by. Small things that you can look back on and reminisce while writing long lists like this.

I wish we all had that much self confidence.

Thank you for the reminder, my friend.

Wow Lorelle…I’m kinda flattered actually. You’re definitely too kind seeing that it is your challenge in the first place. All I did was exactly what made the most sense in your challenge last year.

Mind you though…trying to remember more than what I forgot isn’t always an easy thing. Still…like you said, I’ve got long ways to go. 🙂

Me too wrote a post recently indicating what I learned in my last year of blogging which happened to be my first year as a blogger. It would be awesome if I get your suggestions on that article.

Is Anyone Reading Your “Quality” Blog Articles?

Like you, Lorelle, I think that it is important for us to look back once in a while though not necessarily by the calendar. I set milestones for myself and evaluate those milestones when the time comes, instead of reminding myself about it constantly (like Ed says).

I wrote this a few days ago: Things I learned in 2007

But of course, Ed’s post is more catchy (or should I say thought-provoking?) and makes a better reading list than mine, LOL.
