Blog about your favorite WordPress tip.
Think back to when you first started experimenting with WordPress. What tip was the most important for you to learn during those trial and error days? Do you remember? What tips did you learn about using WordPress that you still value the most after all this time?

I think the best WordPress tip I found was how to rename your permalinks so your post urls are based on your post title and not you p=6 or something like that. I also like to keep my trackbacks and my comments separate from each other.
How do you separate your trackbacks and comments, Elysa? A while ago I wrote, The Debate Over Comments and Trackbacks, and I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately as I redesign some of my blogs. How do you line up and separate trackbacks from comments? Before, after, next to?
Actually, I’ve blogged a couple WordPress enhancements lately. Flooding comments with links is obscene, so here is one of my WordPress tips.
WordPress phases old posts out because the navigation of category archive pages suffers from a design flaw (“death by pagination”). To feed the “evergreens” with traffic and search engine love as well, it makes sense to install categorized hubs which hold every post just one hop away from the main page. I didn’t find a suitable plugin, hence I’ve shared my script.
The best WordPress tip was editing the footer of the blog to add links to the categories of the blog and the copywrite statement.
