Blog Challenge: Testing Your Blog’s Development

Here is a blogging challenge for those who want to learn more about monitoring and studying your blog traffic, and developing your blog.

Visit the following links and study the information they give you on your blog. Then blog about what you learn from these various sites and if they helped, hurt, or change the way you will blog or set up your blog.

Did you learn something new? Something amazing? Or did it just verify what you already knew about your blog? Share with us here or on your blog what you learned about your blog. And how it will impact your blog and your blogging.

This is one of many I offer weekly to help kick your blogging ass. For more challenges, see the category.

Google Webmasters Site Status Test was the most useful site. I finally learned why Google didn’t index my site correctly while other search engines had no trouble. Then I added my sitemap URL

I can’t really make out all the stuff about page rank and link popularity. But I have learned one thing: when I google “The happiest person in the world”, I come out #1! That’s pretty cool, huh? (And I am still #2 without the quotes).

I came here to get an update on WordPress info but tantalized by the list of tools I ran through them with my BlogHarbor (Blogware platform) blog, Thinking Home Business. The most interesting for me were Visual Page Rank and Google Webmaster Site Status. Visual Page Rank because – a) because it gave me a higher ranking than some others (and lower than one, not in this list):) and b) because it showed the relative value of various elements including links for products for sale. Google Analytics was interesting because it came up with a whole stack of 404 (not found) urls with a /www.feedblitz.com ending. So I’m trying to find out from Feedblitz and my blog service provider what they can make of that – I’m hoping it is not adversely affecting my ranking. Some of the tools I found either did not recognise the site or did not give me useful info. I will post about this and link – thank you for the listing.
