This Plugin no longer functions in current versions of WordPress. To search the WordPress Codex go to http://codex.wordpress.org/ and use the search function on the site.

I've also just tried the nice-search plugin, and have the same problem, except it now shows me a blank page (from the_title downwards) when I don't include a search term in the url... hmmm...

Nice article. The whole WP search thing is a bit of a mystery, so little is mentioned in the support pages!

I have a question... when I goto myblogurl/?s=, I get shown the homepage of the blog - it's only if there is some kind of search query in the string that I see the correct page. Any ideas why this is? How do I just link to an empty search page!?!

Cheers, 3stripe

Are you using WordPress 2.2? No one outside of the Wordpress development team is, so I doubt it. The new Page-inclusive search function is schedule to be included in WordPress 2.2, though you can add it with the Plugins listed above.

Hi,
Somewhere up there you say that the current version of WordPress (2.1.1) has page search built-in. Is that correct? If so, I can't get it to work.

You have to be more specific. Do you want to search through the search on your blog with an option to limit the search to a specific year for your users? Or do you want to search your post from your Admin Panel to limit the search to a specific year? Or what?

If you are more specific, then I or others here can find the answer, or search in the WordPress Support Forum, the first place you should start any WordPress help search.
