Hopeless Sensei’s List of Blogging Do’s and Don’ts

Whether or not you are a fan of anime, Hopeless Sensei’s “Anime Blogging – What to do and what to avoid” is a delightful list of things bloggers should do and not do when blogging. While aimed at the anime market and industry, it should apply to all bloggers. Here are a few examples.

Do read the posts of others on a subject before you write about said subject. The knowledge of another blogger on an issue can complement yours.

Do not copy and paste another post and then write it in your own words. Make sure the opinion on an anime that you reveal to the world equates to how you feel about the series.

Do have the courage to stand up for your opinions, no matter how far they deviate from those of others.

Do not flame something for the sake of provoking a reaction, because you could be shot down faster than a generic GINN faced with Kira Yamato.

Do comment on other blogs often. Build a blogging community of friends and comrades rather than one of rivalry, and contribute to the writing of others along with your own.

Do not try to burn those who disagree with you. Subtly hinting at them in a future post, though, is slightly more acceptable.

I’ve had problems lately with the “burning those who disagree with you”, but I’m getting help now and hopefully working on improving my aim. 😉

Subtly hinting on a future post is more than just building better relations, it’s a survival trait, especially in a blogosphere as “in your face” as the one I’m currently a part off.

Yeah. I definitely don’t do the “Do comment on other blogs often” one very much. I really need to start doing. Well, this is as good a place to start as any. Good post! 😉

I comment on other blogs often and I do have the courage to stand up for I believe in. Good post Lorelle. By the way your blog is messed up in IE. Send me an email and I’ll send you a screen cap of what I see.

Thanks, Rose. I am aware of the flaws in this WordPress Theme in IE. There is nothing I can do about it as wordpress.com users have no control over their Theme choices other than picking them. I’ve let the developers know of the problems, but nothing has happened yet. I’m hoping the Theme author will issue an update and fix that, and other little problems. For now, this is the only choice among the WordPress Themes that I like and which suits the theme of this blog. SIGH.

Thanks so much for your support and you’ll be hearing from me soon. I just got “in the door”. 😉

“Do steal images from various websites because you lack the ability to edit your own.”
Is that really your opinion, Lorelle?

Milo317: since the above is a blockquote, it is the opinion of someone else. You will know when you have my opinion. 😉

Just checked, and Hopeless Sensei has put a strikethrough on the “Do steal images…” statement–good thing!

Sad. I really liked the irony and satire. I guess people are taking it too literally. 😉
