I understand that some search engines may be producing results by meaning
of search terms (words) entered, rather then just matching words. I have not
found an example yet but wondered whether this might be the way to go for
better results.

Personally, I feel that most of the search engines just don't get it yet. They're trying to index as much of the web (or blogo-whatever) as they can whether they use categories or not. That may have worked in the 90s but there is no algorithm or set of algorithms that can really successfully bring us decent results from what the web looks like today and just how much is out there.

I really believe niche search engines are going to be the way to go in the very near future and down the road searching for certain types of information will become more like how we do so in our real (unplugged) lives.

I just wrote up a post on effectively finding information the other day, so my mind is still on the subject. I'm really wanting to add an addendum post pointing out the flaws with the Snap search engine that seems to be getting a lot of attention at the moment. I'm debating whether the writeup would produce anything of value or whether it would just end up as a rant about the site, lol. Either way, if you stop by, by all means leave me some input.

Cheers,
