I've had several more communications with WP Support since my last comment, and they seem to have this bug pretty well squashed at this point. Part of it had to do with a scheduling queue which was not properly updating.

Thank you for pointing out that WP.com is a test site and on the cutting edge of new tech. Knowing that will certainly help me keep good humored about the occasional hiccups.

I'm so glad I moved my blogs to Wordpress!

And thank you, Lorelle, for your very excellent Lorelle on Wordpress blog.

We all know about this very well, as you can read here, and trust me, they are working on it. It seems the issue is more complex than they thought, but I expect this to be fixed soon.

I wish they'd put it in writing when you sign up, but it is well known and talked about that Wordpress.com is the alpha and beta test site for all things WordPress and WordPressMU. Users need to understand that. This is cutting edge technology, and as such, things go bump in the night and the month(s).

I totally and completely agree with you. Development of WordPress and Wordpress.com is a huge team effort and different team members work on different issues. The part of the team working on new features has been working overtime to bring benefits to Wordpress.com users, and the core programming part of the team has been digging into the dirt, trying to work on the bug problems. The future post problem continues, but a lot of the other major bugs have been cleared up.

Hang in there. Just remember, you're riding the edge with Wordpress.com. ;-)

I've written a probably a half dozen feedbacks since moving to Wordpress less than a week ago, and it's still not working right. I think they're sick of seeing my feedbacks, because I'm not getting responses any more. I think it's more than one problem that they need to fix.

On a daily basis, my posts pop onto the front page at 8 pm when they're supposed to begin at midnight. That's one issue.

Second issue, some posts are appearing anywhere from three to five days early. That's a second issue.

Third issue, in order to get the several-days-too-early posts off the front page, I've resaved them as drafts, planning to republish myself on the desired day. Three times one resaved draft has popped back onto the front page, and three times I have re-resaved it as a DRAFT.

I've looked into the topic all over the support forum (I'm using Wordpress-hosted free blogs) and verified that my time is set properly in Options (UTC -4 for Washington DC).

In the meantime, four months has elapsed since this topic was first opened, and no progress seems to have been made.

There have also been new features added. Wouldn't it be better if the features Wordpress already has work the way they're supposed to?

I was out of Internet range AGAIN for the past two days and I return back to the living web to find two future posts posted. I'll be watching this carefully, but hopefully this is now fixed. WEEEEEE!

drmike:

If you can read through my shaking typing, I'm laughing hysterically, we have some improvement in the failure for future posts to post. ONE post I wrote very late last night (about midnight my time - 7am GMT I think) released in the night (set at 3AM), but the one set at 5AM didn't release. Maybe the GMT thing is screwed up and it released because the GMT time had already passed. I don't know, but that doesn't explain why 4 days later a past due post won't publish. Go figure.

Anyway, it still isn't working, but for a moment, I had some hope.

Okay, the test I just did is NOT WORKING. Damn, poop and all that. I set it to post one hour from saving and it didn't release. I had to go into EDIT and then SAVE and it posted. I checked UTC time, blog time, and my time and it should have posted two hours ago. I have more coming out in the next couple of days that I'm writing now, so let's see what happens with that, but future posts are still not working.

Smack 'em for me, drmike. ;-)

They continue to not work as of yesterday, but I've another future post coming out in an hour or two. We'll see if that works. I just wrote it, so it was written and saved in the past hour. Maybe that will make a difference.

This has been a nightmare while I've been traveling. Thanks for looking into this and helping out.
