Bragging on Greg Balanko-Dickson

I’ve recently been bragging about posts I’m proud of writing as well as others who have also had the courage to be publicly proud of what they have written. I decided to start bragging about their brags. The first brag was on 456 Berea Street, and this one is on Greg Balanko-Dickson.

Greg has been a guest blogger on this blog several times, adding to the wealth of knowledge on blogging with articles like Writing a Blog and Engaging Readers, True Confessions of Early Adopter Turned Blogger, and Prevent Blog Pollution. He recently took time to also blog about some posts he is especially proud of writing:

1) 7 Steps to Achieving the Results You Want
2) 15 Reasons To Buy a Business vs. Starting from Scratch
3) Forget About Business Productivity – Focus on Business Effectiveness
4) Business Failure and Turnaround
5) It’s Time to Stop Surviving and Focus on Thriving
6) Avoid the News Years Resolutions Trap, and Listen to The Critic
7) How To Write For Your Web Site and Get Visitors To Read
8) Stop Selling, Start Telling, Be Yourself
9) The Mediocrity of Goodness: Inspiring Excellence In Our Kids
10) Genesis of Complacency Manifesto

Greg is an accomplished columnist, zine publisher and editor, and published author, so he spends a lot of time writing. To sift through all that he has written in the past year or so and decide that these 10 are his favorites, that’s impressive work.

What I adore most about his writing is his determination to help you change your life through your blogging. It isn’t about helping you make money or increase traffic to your blog. These things will happen if you follow his advice, but the underlying theme in these articles is how to improve you.

During an intense self-improvement program many years ago, the leader told us to only concentrate on fixing one part of our lives not the whole thing. I thought this odd, since I had plenty needing fixing. I later learned this is called the domino effect. When we fix one thing in our lives, a lot of other things get resolved at the same time. We also get more powerful with every fix we make in our lives, making the fixes once thought to be overwhelming, simple and easy to do the more we do it.

Greg Balanko-Dickson teaches the domino effect in his essays. Fix one thing and other things will start to fix themselves. Take it step-by-step and stay focused. Most of all, when you do good works in your life, you inspire others to do good works, and you attract a lot of good work to you. It’s really inspirational writing as well as motivational.

He also specializes in what I call “kick ass” inspiration. If you need some kicking to get you off your butt and into action, Greg is the source for good butt kicking.

So brags on Greg Balanko-Dickson and thanks for helping us improve not only our blogging, but ourselves in the process.

  1. [...] I started a series bragging about bloggers I’ve found and have enormous respect for, but that got sidetracked. The first brag was on Greg Balanko-Dickson who so impressed me, he was the first I invited as a guest blogger here. He wrote “When was the last time you read your own blog?”, “Prevent Blog Pollution”, “True Confessions of Early Adopter Turned Blogger”, and “Writing a Blog and Engaging Readers”. I had so much fun with that, I might do that more in the future. Think you might want to be a guest blogger on Lorelle on WordPress? [...]
