I thought we had one that was working, but now it appears it isn’t. Each new version of WordPress seems to break them. Installing Plugins is easier than upgrading WordPress, so for now, stick with it the old fashioned method.

Any chance that you know of a Plugin-Installer Plugin for WordPress that is still available? I have searched high and low and can only find the one you mention above which is no longer available and Plugininstaller by Henning Schaefer (http://henning.imaginemore.de/pluginstaller/) which only seems to work if your running your server on linux. Any ideas?

Over a year after your original post, Fred discovers WordPress and becomes interested in writing plugins. All plugin installer links that I’ve found seem dead; any idea if someone’s attempted this, or if it’s going to be part of the WP core?
