I find I’m reading this post about two years after it was posted but I wanted to say “Thank you!” for this post. I’ve only begun a blog this year and have been wondering why I check out my trackbacks and get taken to blogs that have no value and only seem to be a bunch of links. I honestly had no idea there was a name for that type of useless blog.

I have a few of those listed in my Incoming Links and after searching the WordPress forums on solutions, I took someone’s advice and contacted Technorati last night to remove them. VERY frustrating.

“What do you think about websites that now look like blogs? Have you found any incoming links from splogs to your blog? Should there be rules or guidelines as to what defines a blog? Should there be layouts or design clues which help the visitor know they are visiting a blog or a website? Or are the lines between them too blurred? Is this issue important to you or do you think it is a non-issue? After all, who really cares if they are visiting a blog or website that looks like a blog? What do you think?”

HATE them; if nothing else, they clog up searches on Technorati and elsewhere. Like most people, I’ve found a few trackbacks and links from splogs to blogs I run, and it’s a little disappointing to realize you’ve been picked up by spammers rather than people who actually appreciate what you do.
