In an interesting twist, Jason Calacanis is taking on top Blog lists and putting his money where his mouth is.
There’s been a lot of back and forth about A-list bloggers, the Technorati 100, the value of lists, and how to “work the A-list.?
Well, I’m sick of the Technorati 100. Now, it’s good to have a list (more on this later), but we need a better list that is more accurate and includes many more people, and both old-school and new-school bloggers.
… and I’m willing to pay for it—sort of.

What Mr. Calacanis is offering is based on a desire for a “feature rich, frequently-updated, and fair system”. He is offering $50,000 in advertising to the first person to come up with a better 100 list based on the feedback in his article. Or, if a programmer wants to build such a top notch list for Weblogs, he’ll pay $10,000 cash.
Here are some of the discussions he cites in his article that are worth reading about how this A List issue for bloggers is getting out of control.

Didn’t someone already win that prize? By the way, Blogebrity is straight-up at http://blogebrity.com now — small URL change.
Once you have a list based on opinion, there are going to be people that question it.

[...] As it stands, it’s an interesting resource for blogs and I hope that it will grow and earn the respect it deserves as a generally more “honest” list of top bloggers than many of the A-List more arbitrary lists. [...]
