More Must-Have Bookmarklets Than You Can Swing a Browser At

I’ve seen a lot of links to Special Geek to Live – Ten Must-Have Bookmarklets which lists the top ten must-have bookmarklets to help your online research and browsing. I thought I’d do you better and offer you more must-have javascript bookmarklets than you can swing a bookmarklet at – if you could swing a bookmarklet. Can you?

A bookmarklet is a javascript found inside of a link. Click and drag the link to your Favorites or Bookmarks sidebar, or your links bar and it stores the javascript in a link. When viewing a web page, you can click the javascript link to initiate the little program or action.

Written in Javascript, they are designed to work with just about any browser, though there are a few browser specific bookmarklets. Bookmarklets help you do whatever you do on the web with your Internet browser – and do it better. There are life saving bookmarklets for web development and web page design. There are bookmarklets for tagging, posting, dictionaries, searching, references, Wikipedia, writing programming code, and tons more tasks you do with your browser.

If you are inspired, I’ve included some helpful articles so you can learn how to write your own Javascript Bookmarklets.

If you know of any other bookmarklets that I’ve missed, please add them. Enjoy!

Incredible! I might spend my whole summer on this mountain of bookmarklets if I’m not careful!

I am trying out blummy to manage my bookmarklets. My favorite bookmarklets are “Add to Newsgator,” “Alexa This,” and “Technorati This.” (And the coComment bookmarklet, until I got the awesome new coComment Firefox extension!)

How did you do this? Please tell us.

I’ve written about this a bit, and will have a new article on this coming out soon, but start with Adding Del.icio.us, Digg, Technorati and Slashdot Links to Your WordPress Blog and Adding Post to Spurl Button on Your WordPress Posts. It’s all manual cut and paste in WordPress.com blogs.

I have created a variation of your site search tag bookmarklet. I used Google Custom Search Engine as the search engine, instead of wordpress.com search engine:

[…] I’ve collected a vast repository of resources and websites within information, tutorials, and utilities to help me with my web page designs and I shared many of those in CSS and Web Page Design List of Resources.
