Yep, it’s like wrapping paper, to stretch the analogy further. The present is WordPress, whatever version number, and the wrapping is the engine that provides the ability for a host site to have multiple users or multiple blogs.

For users of wordpress.com and other WordPressMU sites, the focus is on the content not on the customization. I am beginning to think of it as WordPress on Training Wheels. ;-)

It just allows WordPress to be install and used by many users hence the name MU.

WordPressMU runs WordPress 1.6 ALPHA – which is not ready for prime time – trust me. But it’s stable enough for running on WordPressMU. The full version of WordPress 1.6 should be out for public use within the next couple of months, we all hope.
